Depending on your license leve, you may choose to configure separate workspaces for testing and development purposes. You can set each workspaces's environment type from the Company Profile page within Workspace Settings.
Environment types are labels to help you organize your workspaces and do not impact any application functionality.
There are three environment types:
- Production
Use this for your normal day-to-day data processing - Test
Use this for testing flows with your external workspaces like customers, suppliers, and other software packages - Development
Use this as an experimental environment when coding custom interfaces to Chain.io or when working with the Chain.io development team to build a new interface.
Best Practice
Once you start building flows within a workspace, do not change the environment type. Instead, create a workspace for each environment type you need and then redeploy flows with matching configurations. This makes sure you're always using connections connected to the right external systems.
