Transaction Limits

The Chain.io platform has several soft limits regarding transaction size, processing duration, and throughput.  Exceeding these limits may result in failed or stalled transactions.  If you have use cases that will regularly exceed these limits, please contact your Client Success Manager to discuss alternative mechanisms which may meet your business need.

Below is a summary of our current soft limits for transaction sizes:

CategoryLimitNotes
File Size~500MB
Concurrency~750 transactions / minute inbound to Chain.ioConcurrency can be limited by users on a per-Flow basis using our Flow Throttling capability.  With throttling, all messages are accepted into Chain.io and queued for later processing.
Process Duration5 minutes

5 minutes from the time a flow starts (after the throttling queue) until it fully complete.

If you regularly have transactions that will run longer (often because of slow responses from the system you are delivering to), then contact your Client Success Manager.
